I learned to be a smart shopper now... (burnt before by brick-and-mortar companies); I asked if the camera is a return from customer before I placed the order, I was assured it would be from new batch just arrived at their warehouse.

I also like the fact that the battery included in the package has a manufacture date as well. The battery D-LI90 included in the k-3 has a sticker date of 201408.
That is a nice thing, makes life easier, cheers

I bought my K3 near the beginning of November from B&H. It had the base fw version. I upgraded it to 1.11 myself. I don't know the manufacture date of the camera. I am still waiting to get LR 5 to download the files.

I bought a K5 about a year after it was released. I found that it also had the base fw version.

You don't need to download any files; just use the following link to check manufacture date with a JPG file taken from the camera.

Bought from B&H in late November. FW -1.11, build date 10/04/14, battery dated as 8/2014. The battery month dating goes back at least to the early K-01 run in late 2011, as I have a 201111 that came with that camera.

Sounds like we all get the similar batch from the late production runs... Kudo to Adorama, B&H and quickndone (in Canada). Also glad that Ricoh steps up to get the new stocks preinstalled with latest and greatest firmware and shutter count reset to zero or 1.

I am enjoying the new toy (although supposedly after Xmas) as I am making comparisons with my k-5IIs, which is my work-horse camera (tuned to be quite sharp with almost all my MF lenses at wide-open aperture, which before that I didn't believe it could happen.

Hope you all enjoy your new toy and enhance your photographic experience!!...
My CBA can take a pause now and be rekindled again until the long awaited mysterious Pentax FF appear in the near (or far) future. I got time to wait...

Thanks mate. It's really good to hear that I bought a new part of K-3. To be honest before I decided to buy K3 I wasn't aware of that bug. After I bought it I came to board and saw a lot of topics about it and I told myself "Oh SNAP!" but then I realized there is no need to panic. I hope I won't be wrong

Cheers

Ok....just checked mine from Quickandone....battery is 201408 and Body manufacure date is 11/04/14....that made it less than 3 1/2 weeks old when I purchased it.
2 year Canadian warranty.
Latest firmware also , but not noted in box....had to check it manually.
Also checked my shutter count and it was 3 on my first image.....Damn....I guess I got a used one.....lol
Oh well....thats outta the way.
BTW....I ordered mine about 1hr before the sale on Ebay ended for $619 shipped !

Good for you... how did you get the newer one than rest of us (45) sold for that price? I thought the batch was from the same week of manufacture date..
As for the shutter count, sometimes, even if there is no SD card in there, the shutter count will increase every time the shutter release button is press, and even if you do a DOF preview, I think. And if you change the AA filter other than none, the count may be more... anyway, enjoy!!

Nope....I checked again...Mine appears to be manufactured exactly 30 days later on November 4th.
I would have been happy just having one manufactured on any date as long as it was never used and brand new. I think they obviously had another "Batch" as a week later were selling for $689 and now $699.

You guys in N America are lucky, that $699 converts to £445 and I just paid £635 for my shiny new K-3, after a £70 instant cashback and allowing for a Pentax £70 cashback (I have to claim that). Bargain over here but not in comparison with the US. I wondered about importing it but after adding shipping, 20% VAT and import duty, it would have cost more than the £635.

Shutter count was 3 on the first image, battery date 201409 and K-3 manufacture date 2014:11:19 so I guess I win!

Firmware had been updated to 1.11, which I think is an excellent service from Pent.... umm, Ricoh!

I am keeping my trusty K-5 but I can't wait to get out with my new K-3, it feels good and so far all is working well. But they sent me a K-50 manual!
