New K3 arrived today.

Well, my new K3 arrived today. A few concerns. The serial number is in the 49XXXXX range and the firmware version was 1.0. The battery included with the camera is defective. I contacted B&H about the battery and have no concerns as their customer service is top notch. As usual it seems that I can beat the odds whenever it comes to getting the bad part. It's nice to ave B&H in my corner in these situations.

Just hoping it was made after they fixed the mirror overrun problems. I installed a battery from my K5 battery grip and ungraded the firmware. My quick testing shows that everything seems to be working.

Sorry that the battery was DOA.

As for the serial number and firmware version, I would not be too concerned. If you want to confirm that your camera is recent production, the date of manufacture is included in the makernotes section of the exif.

Congratulations on the camera and sorry about the battery. I agree that having B&H in your corner is a real plus.

I pre-ordered my K-3 and it's been a great camera. I wouldn't worry about the serial number. We aren't talking about A D600 or something like that. (Banned from Russia and China). Get out there and take some pictures. Enjoy that new AF module.

Well, after I returned from a service call I fired it up and took a few quick shots. Very happy with it. And yes I still use a Day Planner. Much more efficient than anything electronic I have ever used. I did go PDA once. And early failure of the internal battery and loss of all my data cure me of he desire for anymore of them. Faster data retrieval too.

If you haven't already done so, get the extra 2year warranty (from B&H). I've had 2 mirror runs in 15K shots. I can now take my time to get it fixed - esp since fw1.11 stops it quite quickly, tho I lost the shot. The warranty was $20 last I looked.
