New K3

Purchased a new K3 on black friday with new hand grip and flu card from adorama. Looking forward to trying the new system out. Tamron 28-75, very nice lens. Upgrading from K5, and that was a great camera.

Thats what I am hoping for. I started out with the K7, when it came out. Graduated to the K5 shortly after it came out. Now looking forward to the K3. Will be using Tamron glass for now. I have purchased a while ago, the pentax 50mm/1.7 manual lens. Had good images with it on the K5. Thanks for the vote of confidence on purchasing this camera.

Hello folks,
Today I received new K-3, my older camera is K-20d. I've few questions:
1 - mode dial is not well stable, a spindle is little flexible - unlike the K-20D dial, which is very stable - have you same feeling?
2 - when I shake the body, something is moving inside, is it normal?

I came from a K10D and the dial does feel different, but I am not concerned.

Same as with your K20D, the sensor is suspended magnetically. There is a certain amount of movement when the camera is turned off.

Thank you all for advising, My confusions come from comparison to K20D. But now, after few exercises I feel I will love my K-3.

Given that the K3 is relatively heavy for a days shooting, suggest your exercises should include muscle building ones. If you find any that work please let me know as I am thinking of buying one, but its weight is currently putting me off. (Satire) thread "why I won't buy a k3" afficiandos may also be interested!

Yes, the K-3 is a bit heavier than the K-5, but not that much. I usually carry my camera in hand, and my shoulder/upper arm gets a bit tired after 4-6 hours with either of them. No big difference.

K-3 is so heavy like K20D - then for me is no difference, and heavier piece is ever better for defence :-)
