Please recommend a case for K3 w /55_300 WR, etc.

Can someone recommend a case that will carry a K3 w/55-300 WR mounted and still have room for an 18-135 WR, battery grip, charger, etc? Amazon shows several nice cases, but all hold the camera lens down. I prefer the camera and lens rest horizontally. Hopefully, there's something smaller than a backpack that will work.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jack

Pelican cases!!!
1550 is the largest to carry on an airliner, that or anything smaller will work. Make sure that you get the cubed cutaway foam inside to customize your setup. Take the time to lay out your equipment, as you would want them in a case, measure it out and then add at least a couple inches to each side. You will hopefully find a case that will work. I have two of the 1550s and am extremely pleased with their outstanding construction, durability, and, most of all, protection. B&H, Adorama, or local camera store should have these in stock.
Wish you well in your search and acquiring your case.

well... bagwise, rather than a case... there isn't anything smaller than a sling bag or backpack. I have a holster bag, but that only fits my K-30 and HD 55-300, plus battery and cards, but no charger.

Is there a sling bag or backpack that isn't huge? All I want in it is one camera, one extra lens and the accessories.

I've got a lowepro transit sling 250 AW. You can start from there and find one that suits you.

This will work and cost you $22.00. This was in the Pentax Price Watch thread a few months ago, I bought one, it should fit what you need pretty well.

I carry my K-3 in a LowePro AW200 Sling Bag. It will hold my K-3 with battery grip and my DA-L 55-300 mounted as long as I flip the hood around on the lens. It will also hold my Metz MB AF58-2 along with a couple extra lenses, charger and rocket blower along with other odds and ends. I've been very happy with the bag.

I have this one (Petrol PD333) coming tomorrow. I've been looking for a month. I wanted something that wasn't too big but was extremely well made. I liked the sling idea with the side access. I'm hoping this works. Great discount on this bag from B&H.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Good forum with helpful members! Glad I found it as I enter the Pentax DSLR world.

Certainly some good suggestions offered on bags and cases. I wish I had been more specific, though. What I like is a separate bag for each of the several cameras I use. If I'm going to the zoo or I'm in the National Parks, I like to grab the bags that hold whichever camera(s) I'm using that day. The bags themselves don't leave the car. I don't pack or walk very far with cameras, and not at all with equipment.

You've given me some good things to study. Thanks for being so helpful.
