wow... so many features that helps take photos much easier compared to my k-x

focus peaking, electronic level, much better resolution LCD, quick zoom

I'm still adapting to controls but they seems very logical...

this is huge jump for me, will post some image later

Go to the link and upload an image taken with your new K-3:

Check Shutter Count & Camera Manufacture Date Online - EXIF Reader
I am very new with the K3 and I have checked the link and the first shot 0001 is actually the 5th in the shutter count field. The manufacture date is november 6 2014.
I know it's a little bit offtopic, but can I check somewhere in the camera some details about the battery life? With just one I think it's impossible to get around 500 long exposure shots...

Nicer charger than the Pentax
Hmmmm...my Wasabi charger is more compact, but is not capable of doing a trickle charge and is also very lightly (i.e. chintzy) built. I guess that might translate to "nicer". I use it for rapid charge when on the road and for that purpose only.

Battery life (shots per charge) between charges is dependent on the depth of charge, exposure length, rear LCD on/off, preview on/off, video usage, AF usage, and flash usage along with temperature extremes, age of battery, and the battery's capacity. Oh and how much you play with it doing settings and such between shots.

The users on the is site who get the best battery life share these points:
  • Manual focus
  • Rear LCD off
  • Image preview off
  • Limited/no time exposures
  • No flash
  • No video

Actually limited for all dSLRs, Chinese batteries included. Running the sensor and keeping the shutter open both draw power. The best option is an external power supply of some sort.

Some use a external phone battery, if I'm not wrong, but I don't know how to use one

Hi again

I have one question regarding long exposure time lapse videos

Is it possible to do in-camera long exposure (longer then 1/30 of second) videos or I need just to shoot interval images in photo mode, then make them into a video in some computer software?

When I turn my k-3 in video mode, it doesn't allow me longer then regular video fps exposure (1/30, 1/60, 1/24), and when I shoot interval in photo mode, it doesn't stack them into a video. Is it possible to stack images into a video in photo mode or any other way in camera?

If not, what software can you recommend?

I believe that is the more common way of doing it. If the in-camera intervalometer is not adequate, a corded remote intervalometer may be used in conjunction with that in the camera to dial up pretty much any combination you might want.

As for tools, I only fiddle around and have used the Widows Movie Maker to make short time lapse...
