Im very excited about the pentax k3ii. I live in sydney and pre order it from a camera store, the sales told me it will be available around end of may early of june. About one more week to go. I am using k10d and i feel the camera is not functioned very well. i am wondering hows the improvement from k10 to k3?

Big improvement

In a nutshell, it will be a substantial improvement unless you only shoot landscapes on a tripod at iso 100.
  • Faster AF
  • Live view
  • More AF points
  • Vastly superior high iso
  • Higher resolution for greater cropping if you shoot telephoto
  • Better image quality all round except at iso 100 (where they would be approx equal)
  • Built-in Intervalometer if you like startrail photography
  • Vastly superior dust reduction (I had the K10 and having to clean the sensor was very annoying)
  • More frames per second
  • Consistent flash exposure
  • Dual card slots
  • Electronic level
  • Astro-tracer compatibility
  • In camera ca removal for jpgs

Unless you love the CCD look of the K10 you are up for a treat.

Note: The K3 does require better camera holding technique compared to the 16 megapixel Pentaxes but I do not know how it would compare to the K10.

K10 to K3 - hope you can control your drooling and your excitement once you have your new camera in hand. Will you be able to sleep before it arrives?
Only downside is you might need more memory cards or in my case more hard drive space in my computer.

I'm sure you will have fun

If you have some lenses from K10D, you will be surprised how sharp they are.
K-3 II is a very new technology compared with K10. I still love my K200D but K-3 is something different.

I made the same jump from K10D to K-3 last year. Prepare to be amazed and be prepared for a steep learning curve. There are many more options and settings on the K-3.

Thanks guys,

Howieb, you are right. I am very enjoying the colour rendering of ccd, i compare the photos of ccd vs cmos from flickr somehow cmos miss one of the taste that ccd does have. It is hard to describe from words. I know the advantage of cmos like high iso, live view, etc . I think it ll takr me some times to get use of the k3ii. If i get use the k3ii, then i can move forward to the full frame later this year. Pentax, keep going hurray.
