Post Your K-3 II Photos Here

Jumping the gun a little but I thought I'd start the thread anyway. I'll be renting one in a couple of weeks so I'll be posting here too.

Just curious where you can rent one? No one local to me does that.

I would think it better to start a dedicated K-3 II specific forum.
So that bug reports, questions and problems etc. don't get confused between the two models

Yes fwbigd, please share some thoughts with us. For example, the battery from my K-3 II lasted only for 398 shots.
At high ISO it's about equal with K-5 II, maybe a little better on K-3 II. The 24Mp sensor from K-3 II is quite picky when the light is bad (let's say a restaurant with mixt lights). K-5 II was more forgiving in this regard.
I only took 460 shots with the camera and for the moment I think is to early for me to have a strong opinion regarding K-3 II.

All I can say is that K-3 II is a challenging camera, especially because of the 24mp's sensor...

If you went from from k-5II to k-3II, yes there is a learning curve. At least there was from k-5II to k-3 and I would assume the same here. I finally threw out all my k-5 presets for RAW development and started over. Results improved dramatically. Which just shows the sensor is different which we knew. But maybe did not realize how much different. It is not just more MP, but requires different processing.

Just picked my K3-II up today, but all the light was gone by the time I got home and got it set up. So far trip report of taking pictures of my cat: The AF is considerably more accurate than my K5-iis, to the point that I think my K5 could go in for recalibration or something. I was never happy with the 16-50 on my K5 but what little I got to play around with it today on the K3 makes it seem like an entirely new lens.

Can't wait to get to try out pixel shift tomorrow once I get home from work!

Jatrax, I think that you are right. All photos needed different approach in terms of editing and all the presets which I've been using on K-5 II's photos can't be used on K-3 II's photos. But I'm starting all over and so far I really like the camera (except the short life of the battery).

Hey,

a picture taken with Pentax K-3 II and Pentax 100 mm Macro F2.8 WR. With this combination I am very satisfied, the only issue I have is with Sigma 17-50 F2.8 which has small problems with autofocus at longer distances it seems, problems which I didn't encounter on the K-5 II body.

Got my K-3II last night

Just did some testing using the flower display for the Portland Rose Festival in front of the highrise I work at. The camera is set to RAW+, JPEG is set to Bright with Highlight & Shadow corrections turned off.

I realize these are not great pictures, really just quick test shots, better will come later.

First one is JPEG, second one is handheld Pixel Shift JPEG. Yes, a tripod would've been better, didn't really want to carry one to work. Just braced up on one knee, about a .3 - .5 sec. shutter time - not too bad, should be shorter with more light (cloudy this morning). So it does leaves open the possibility of not always needing a tripod for pixel shift. I'm sure the extra stop of SR helps too.
