Just ordered K-3ii

B&H had K-3ii for $980 so I decided to jump at it. I see some threads stating there are K-3ii problems, but it seems like every new release has that. The K-5 had that horrible sensor stain issue, but I waited a while for that to resolve. Can I use the same batteries that I have for my K-5? They look like the same specs.

The same batteries will work as they're the same D-LI90. In fact, if you have a D-BG4 battery grip, the same battery magazines will work in the D-BG5 and vice versa.

File naming in camera

With my K-5 I used the default file naming which is XXX_MMDD (folder number followed by the date) and inside the folder each file is _IGPXXXX. I keep each Memory Card in a separate folder. When I import into Lightroom the files are named YYYY-MM-DD_IPGXXXX (full date followed by the image number used in camera). Now that I'm getting the K-3ii I'm reevaluating my file naming system. I tag all my photos when I import so I do not need descriptive file names. What do you do for your in camera file naming and database file naming?

In camera, files are named K5_99999
When exported after PP in Lightroom, K5_99999 <descriptive name>
That way I can always find the RAW file if I ever want to reprocess.
- not perfect but it works for me.

GPS question

I will be getting my camera today. Reading the manual online it has directions on how to calibrate the GPS. Do I have to do that initially to get the GPS to work correctly or only if it is not working correctly?

viewfinder question

I finally got my K-3ii. I noticed that the eyepiece that you look through is a little crooked. Does that affect the view through the viewfinder or is it just a place to rest your face/eye against and doesn't affect the actual view that you see through the camera and lens? I looked at my K-5 and it is perfectly straight. I'm guessing that it's not a problem but I want to make sure. I don't want all my pictures to be crooked.

The external eyepiece surround actually slides up and off so it can be replaced with a blank viewfinder cap for use in long exposures. Gently but firmly, push down on the 'high' corner and it will straighten. The rubber/plastic eye-piece doesn't affect the view through the prism. It's stiff to slide off but quite thin, so be careful.

Wow, how stupid of me. I thought that was part was fixed to the camera and that the rubber eyecup was only removable. Thank you for the reply.
