Autofocus improvements in K3II...

Quick two-part question: Is the autofocus of the K3II significantly better than that of the K3, and if so, are these improvements duplicable in the K3 via firmware update?

I apologize in advance if this has been asked (and answered) already...

No and I would say most likely yes, since whatever tweaks they've made seem to be very minor. I will continue testing the camera in a variety of situations to see how it behaves compared to the K-3, but so far the same pros and cons apply.

Just in a few threads, one of which is still active...there are a lot of opinions on the subject.

It seems pretty clear that the AF module is the same, as Pentax tends to change the base name when upgrading a module or other major changes. Confusion certainly was created by the marketing department claiming that AF improvements have been made in the new body. The claim likely is based on the assumption that firmware has been upgraded to improve AF, and consequently the K-3ii at introduction trumps the K-3 at introduction.
