Sorry for my late reply. Yes, damn. Yes, 2 cards in slots and MSC usb mode. But thank you for your post. Now I believe that tethering is possible with this camera.

Ricoh, pls task one or two of your software engineers to examine the PKTether code and make this work - for the K-3, and K-3 II. Set it up on github or something too.

They don't have to examine the PKTether code 😃
It's a commercial/marketing decision! Or what would be THEIR benefit for that little cost

Happy, loyal users?
Tight code they could re-use into commercial products?

Happy, loyal users? EXACTLY! And that's the reason why I struggle to understand WHY it hasn't (yet) been done!
They don't have to reverse engineer the camera in order to make it work! The K10D (and others) had tethering! The 645 has tethering! All the other brands have that function. And they KNOW users want that (cfr. video).

My guess is: they will release that function... and we will have to pay for it!

Stop!
You are making too much sense. I am not sure Ricoh can handle all that logic.

It's a little off topic, but I could almost write a book of firmware updates they could do.

More on topic: I tried PKTether with my K3 in a virtual machine (Parallels, W7) on OS X (ps: VM works really great, even with odd webcams and other weird imaging devices) and could not really use it...

I downloaded the Demo for Mac OS X. I couldn't get it to work with the K-3 and Lightroom CC (2015.3).
