PkTether for K3 (Download link)

Hi everyone,

It's been quite a while since the K3 was out, and since the creator of PkTether never got it out and so many people seem to look for it (except when he sent that to me about a year ago after sending him many requests).

Here is the software Tomasz Kos got working with the Pentax K3 body.

I'm using it in my studio, and it works quite well, even though there can be some lagg while shooting many pictures in a raw. (not in RAW, RAW files work perfectly )

My K3 firmware is 1.03 and I haven't taken the risk to update it since, fearing that it wouldn't work anymore with a newer firmware.
[EDIT] Works on firmware v1.21 according to ZeGaby

While using it, my body USB mode is set to : MSC - two cards in the slots are necessary to make it work

And now that you've read every specs, here is the link to get it : PkTether-K3-by-Tomasz Kos.zip

Use it at your own risk as Tomasz says on Pktether.com, it's a beta version (never got a final version anyway...)

Cheers,

EDIT: You have to set your shutter speed and ISO and White Balance before connecting the body to your computer (not a real problem in Studio)

EDIT: Thanks to 645user, we know that it doesn't work with K3II

Adrien.

Tested with my camera in latest firmware and it works, but only can modify the f-stop values, shutter speed and ISO don't work, are they working for you?

In fact, I'm used to set my body up before connecting it to the computer since I'm not able to change the shutter speed and ISO on my side either.

First perception is that I cannot modify the shutter speed independent of exposure mode.

It runs under WINE on my Mac. I haven't tested extensively yet, but so far, so good...

YAY!

Played with it yesterday. Could not get it to detect my K-3 in WINE under Ubuntu 15.10. Will play with it some more when I get the time.

Has anyone tried this with Windows 10 yet? I got it to work but a few little bugs. Autofocus won't work and I've check Autofocus block. Can't change ISO settings (grayed out). can change the fstop but not shutter speed. All of these settings I have to set before I shoot but at least I have an option now for tethering. i may have to work around a few things but it's possible.

Hi bass3587, it's actually running well on windows 10, have to set shutter speed and ISO up before connecting though.
