Even if this is APS-C body completely someone's dream.. I wonder if the FF is more or less the start of Ricoh's thoughts on no longer racing to the bottom? That is to say, maybe we can expect higher featured, higher cost camera bodies with the Pentax name from now on..

I'm hoping it's true but maybe they should call it K4. I mean K-3 Three kind of sticks to the top of your mouth...

No, the K-3 III will have a Sony 7680*5120 ~40 Mp sensor, that can record natively 8K 30i/15p, or 4K 60i/30p. Native ISO range from 50 to 25 600, with 14 bits DR at ISO 50.

It will also be a similar K-3 IIIs with a 3840*2560 ~10 Mp sensor that can record natively 4K 120i/60p or FullHD 240i/120p. Native ISO range from 50 to 51 200, with 14 bits DR at ISO 50.

Both models feature a silent and vibration free active sensor cooling system that can extend the ISO range and dynamic range by two stops and double the video frame rates mentioned above, at the cost of battery usage. Both will also have on sensor PDAF points and hybrid electronic/optical viewfinder with focus peaking. Both will have BSI-CMOS APS-C, but only the K-3 IIIs will have a stacked analogue memory chip (TSV transferred photon well) that can hold a second image with shorter exposure, taken without delay from the ordinary exposed image. The purpose of this short exposure image is to capture details in the highlights that are blown out in the ordinary image. Digitally combined the two images will offer a large extension of the DR in the bright end of the scale, simulating much lower ISOs then 50. This feature will half the buffer size in continuous shooting mode or half the video frame rate.

Big  and big

I think just about everyone here knows this K3III is false.
However- there has recently been a very large drop in the price of the K3II down to $729 from a launch price in the $1,100s. This almost always means a replacement is very close, the same thing happened just before the K3II was released. Based only on this and the fact that the K3II was only a minor upgrade from the K3. I believe a new top of the line APS-C is close as well as obviously the new FF K -- whatever. For me I would be very pleased if they put a articulating screen on the back, upgraded the autofocus and the video. I really would like the see the pop up flash back but I doubt that will happen. I would get more use from the PUF and very little from GPS but I know many have needs that are just the opposite.

My wish list for the new APSC flagship
1.Articulating screen, maybe yes
2. In body flash, now that I have a k-3II, Yes I would like to have it back.
3. Most of all, better noise handling at low light with high ISO say at 6400.
4. Faster AF

There is rumor about 28 MP BSI APS-C Sony sensor. It could be in K-3's successor

A 28mp BSI sensor would be great.

But what I would really appreciate would be a pixel shifting feature that could be used to shoot moving objects handheld!

I would be extremely surprised if the OBF made a comeback on higher-priced Pentax bodies.
The K-3ii which pioneered the flash-less body also pioneered the new squared-off top "throw-back" look, which may depend on not having the flash, and I'm kind of expecting Pentax to keep that look as a visual distinction for their line.
However, they really really do need to come up with some kind of very small master-capable flash that won't take up much room in camera bags.

I would too but would be very happy just to see pixel shift that would be faster so you could handhold in really good light. I think we are a long way from moving objects period since you would need some sort of tracker system that would follow the movement.

28mp would be very nice also but I could live with 24 and better low light noise and focus. I NEED the tilting screen for my old knees, which is why I don't have a K3II

Indeed! Better high ISO performance & faster plus more accurate autofocus would be the ticket!

Although I seriously doubt this is real, if it were the specs are not that implausible because manufactures tend to use a tick/ tock upgrade system, tick being a minor upgrade like the K3 to K3ii and Tock being a major upgrade. The K3 is due for a Tock upgrade, like what we had from the K5ii to the K3. Again this sounds more like a wish list. I think any major upgrade would include articulating screen, better autofocus, better video and 4k is the way things are going fast.
I hope you are on the right track. Been waiting to upgrade.

If you look closely at the D7200 it ain't so "amazing" burst is sorta sad at 6fps vs 8.3 for the K3ii, battery life is not up to the K3ii, buffer small compared to the K3ii this is really big if you are shooting raw, IQ is very similar since they both have the same sensor. The D7200 is also bulkier. The K3ii has pixel shift which under "controlled" circumstances can meet or beat many FF. Where the D7200 comes out on top is the autofocus and video as it has 1080p at 60fps.
I do not have a K3ii I am waiting for the upgrade.
Per˛ bisogna dire che le 8,3 foto al secondo sono in AFS e quando la K3 Ŕ in AFC ne fa molto meno e spesso non riesce a mettere a fuoco. La 7200 in afc funziona molto meglio.

we're talking burst rates, not tracking capabilities. Get you facts straight.
