No, the plastic prited one was to be shown, not the other one.

That would have been stupid. 6 month's since cp+ and still a hunk of plastic would have pissed us off no end. Better not show anything then. It's not like photoplus is a major show.

I agree but it is clear IMO that the plan was the plastic thing. Dunno about Paris though: maybe planned, maybe forced after photoplus.
In any case, even unplanned, I wouldn't have pulled the 'K-1'. It was anyhow so...

I'd still like to see an APS-C pro camera that can shoot noise free at ISO 6400. Man I would love to have one if it comes out. Maybe even two.

Comparing both side by side, the k-s1 has the noticeably better sensor wrt noise and high ISO performance.
The K-S1 is incredibly good in low light. I found a very good deal on a new K-S1 and gave it to my son for Christmas, and was surprised by the clean shots he got at ISO 1600 and 3200 in dim lamp light at a christmas party three days later. I'm pretty sure it's better than my K-5. It's a new world for him - he used my old K10D until now.

Wait for CMOS pack BSI / EXMOR R, the new 28 Mpix from Sony should arrive this year.
At least that should be better than current models.

The effect of BSI is marginal. Maybe half a stop.

I'll take any advantage in ISO performance.

Any camera can give you noise free images at ISO 6400, it's just a matter of down-sample the resolution of the images enough.
Pentax could just add an 0.1MP option in K3 II to give you noise free images at any ISO.

Maybe half a stop with 1 micron pixels. With larger pixels it has a lower effect. Maby in the 5-15% range, but event that is a welcome improvement.

But there is more to expect. Stacked sensors (like electronics in a layer behind the pixel wells) can add various nice features like faster readout (less rolling shutter effect) or double readouts within a single shot (to increace DR).

It's not bad.

Anyway, we will have FF for better ISO and DR. It will be time to choose.

I continue to be impressed with the K3. Any short comings in my photos are generally through poor planning or execution. Get thee a tripod or a flash(s). :-)
