K3II focus point selection question - i couldn't resolve from the manual

Help, I did not find this answered in the manual nor in a search of old posts - your assistance is appreciated.

On my K3II when I am in live view and wish to select a focus point, i first press the "change AF point" toggle button and then use the 4-way buttons to move the focus box around the screen and then I press the AF button to lock focus. OK, but after locking focus or hunting and losing focus, the 4-way buttons immediately default back to their dual role as drive mode/WB/flash/etc. That means if i want to change focus point and touch a directional button, i am now in WB mode, for example, which i am not likely to need to change for the rest of the shoot. Seems unintuitive.

Is there a way to have it remain in AF point selection mode without reverting back each time?

thanks!

If there is, Mike, I haven't found it. I even combed the Ebook.

I agree it would be more logical to stay in the mode you were last in. I just got used to toggling when I want to change modes. Thankfully, that button is close.

thx for your reply and that is unfortunate. It makes more sense to revert back to AF points if anything, IMO

I did realize something nifty in that i can fat thumb two of the arrow buttons at the same time and get the AF box to travel diagonally - that's cool!

I found that one quite by accident on my K-3! I searched in vain for a Menu setting that would 'Hold' AF Point Selection on the 4-Way pad once selected. My thinking was there might be something similar to the 'Remember Settings' check boxes for Power-On.
