Pentax O-ME53 on a K3

Anybody use the Pentax O-ME53 Viewfinder Loupe on the K3, and have any issues with the diopter adjustment? Also, what is the procedure for installing it to the camera? Will this affect weather sealing any?

From B&H Q&A:

QuoteQuote:
The only issue you might have is that the K-3 has changed where the diopter adjustment is located. This eyecup was designed for the original *ist-D digital camera so it has a cutout on the top for the sliding diopter adjustment that all previous Pentax DSRLs have had. It might interfere with adjusting the diopter while it's mounted on a K-3.. It's not perfectly integrated with any of the later cameras as far as looks go either, but works perfectly on the K-20D and K-5II, and really that's all that really counts.

I use the O- ME53 with the K-3 and there is no issue at all. The dioper adjustment is to the side and the eyecup does not interfere with it. The slot on top does become an open slot so it looks like there's a hole there. But I've forgotten about it already.

Just push the original eyecup up and it should slide off. Then just slide the O- ME53 in place.

Thanks. How do you like it compared to not having it? Do you find it very useful?

The O-ME53 is probably the best upgrade to do to any Pentax DSLR. (IMHO)

It does not interfere with the diopter adjustment at all, helps keep you face from touching (and smearing) the LCD and really helps in manual or quick-shift focusing.

Whenever I show someone how well it works, they immediately want one.

I use the O-ME53 on my K3. Do I see a little bit better with it? Cant tell, the difference - it is not that much noticeable. Its a bit bigger, but no issues with diopter adjustment. Downside is it sticks out of the camera body so I have to be careful when putting the camera in a tight bag.

Thanks for all of the information. My girlfriend wears glasses and sometimes complains that the viewfinder on her K3 could be a bit bigger. I'm going to try one out on her camera and see if it's something I would be interested in adding to mine.

I've been using one with all of my cameras since the K100D. I'm so used to it that I'm not sure what the viewfinder looks like without it, LOL.

I have been using one for years since the K10D. For me it makes a huge difference especially for macro photography. The diopter adjustment on cameras is just not enough correction on its own for my aging eyes. I have found this to be true on Nikons as well and use the Nikon equivalent on their cameras. The fact that it also lessens the likelihood of scratching the rear LCD with my glasses is just a bonus.
