Check Anti-shake??

Hi All, I can hand hold my K3-2 camera very well down to 1/30 of a second, and get very sharp images. . I'm have a difficult time telling if my Anti-shake is actually working properly. Suppose I should be checking on the computer, and not the rear LCD. Are there any sure fire ways to test it? One reason I'm wondering is I don't hear the mechanism moving around when the camera is off. My K 5 was easily heard as a slight thump.

Put it in live view mode and turn shake reduction on and off. You'll see a difference as you gently shake the camera.

I thought this was an interesting thing to check, so did the above and can't see any differences between SR on and off.
What differences should one see?

Cheers,
Terry

What is the focal length of the lens you are using?

When you move the camera in a jittery motion with SR on, the image will move sluggishly and smooth rather than jittery.

Never heard a slight thump when my K-3 has been off, there should be nothing going thump when the switch is off. Are you sure that thump was when you first turned the camera on? That noise could be the built in dust removal program that can be setup to shake the sensor either when the camera is turned off or turned on or both.

The K3 & K3ii are much more quiet then the K5.
You will hear the mechanism, shift when you tilt the camera when it is turned off, but again the K3 is much more quiet and doesn't thump like the K5 could do.

Also, I have to amend my suggestion.
On the K5 you could see the effect of SR in live view. I do not see this on the K3 unless I zoom in. I am not sure why the difference. The K3 should have better SR. Maybe the screen refreshes differently??

Anyway, Put the camera in Live View mode and hit the OK button to zoom in. Turn the back dial to zoom to something like 10x.
You should be able to turn SR on and off at this point and really see the difference.

Because of all the trouble I had with my K7, and K5. Sensor stains, mirror flap, and screw drive motor replacement. Still love Pentax body design, and when they work they are fantastic! This is why I have spent this past week checking this camera out! I'm convinced at this point have a solid copy.
