Last week I was at 21,866. K-3 is 9 months old.

My K-5 is a little over 4 years old and the shutter count on it was 19,653 when I last checked it in December...

This thread begs the question... If one is only an occasional light photographer, might the shutter last longer than it's rated actuations than someone that would hammer away in burst mode most of the time? ... Assuming all else is equal.

hmmm.. Modern day cameras.. The equivalent of modern day SSD's?

I have two K-3 bodies. One has a shutter count around 27,000. The other is around 11,800.

I'm not the first owner, though. It had a shutter count of around 500 when I got it a year and a half ago.

I shot my first JPEG with mine just to get the shutter count. It took me a moment to remember how to take it off of RAW.

Comparing everyone elses count to mine, I would say that I may be one of the first to find out.

Looks like I'm winning for lowest shutter count at 676; guess I'd better start snapping away!

I shouldn't worry too much. Based on your average activity, you won't reach 200,000 actuations until the middle of 2022

Sorry to take away your crown... 44,122 as of last night!

Bought it used last spring with about 20,000 already, so I've put over 20,000 in a year. (Although I freely admit, many were not keepers. )

When I first got it, I played around quite a bit just learning the camera and being amazed at what it could do. I also like to play with some manual focus lenses (Pentax-A 35-105 f/3.5 is my favorite) and take extra shots to make sure I got a few in focus. I even switched to continuous-LOW burst rate, because at one event I passed my camera around a little bit and ended up with WAY too many photos. (Though I loved their reactions when it shot off 6-8 frames at 8 fps and they thought they did something wrong!)

Nice. I didn't expect to have a crown when I made this thread, but glad to see others are putting their K3's up to the challenge.

Anything I can! (Except when people start getting annoyed and I know it's time to put it away.)

I got the K-3 and 18-135 for a steal last year with the excuse that I would use it for upcoming baby pictures. (He's almost here!) I also caught some LBA and went through a few manual focus oldies because it's awesome that they work on this modern camera. I'm not that great at manual focus so those are for when I have time to play, with my favorite being a Pentax-A 35-105 f/3.5. For most things I use my 18-135, Tamron 17-50/2.8, DA 50/1.8, DA 35/2.4, and DA 500-200 WR (in that order).

I recently started using flickr to upload some of my photos but I don't have much set as public (I don't want to offend any relatives by posting pictures of them publicly).

Mostly landscape, but also wildlife... Portraits. One would think I shoot high speed continous all the time but only with birds in flight and then only 3-4 frames. I use the camera alot...

Here are some samples: https://www.flickr.com/photos/thomashedlund/

Last year I also shot alot on film so the K3 is not the only camera I use...

Hi - what settings do you use for your wildlife?

I'm going out with a published wildlife photographer this weekend for birds and I'm new with K-3

Well... I shoot in Av-mode with auto ISO set to 100-8000 and depending on the light I may also set the ISO-change-speed to Fast.
I have set it to back button focus with AF-C and Sel M, center point. In the C-menu I have C16 set to 3, the rest of the focus settings are default.
I use the D FA 150-450 and the focus speed on that lens is one of the fastest I have used on a Pentax. The hit rate compared to DA*300 is really high. In some degree due to the focus limiter I guess.
