Setting up GPS

So I've moved on from Pixel Shift to GPS. The book says press the little button and a light comes on and an icon appears in the LCD screen, and they do. The light and icon are red, which apparently means 'No Positioning; I've calibrated the GPS by rotating as per instructions, and got the confirmation, but no GPS info in the info screen. What did i fail to do?

Thanks in advance.

Just to be sure, were you outdoors and in an area with good sky visibility?

O/k, I'm sitting in my cozy basement, when I can pluck up courage to go outside I'll try again!

Sounds good. The GPS probably won't work indoors unless you're near a window

I took the plunge (it's actually quite mild today) and it worked fine! A friend who has one said he had to do all kinds of stuff to get it to work, but that was easy!

What next to play with?

Thanks Adam.

One more thing, now I've woken it up, how to turn it off so as not to derplete the battery?

Thanks

Yes the light goes out, but does that mean it' not working in the background, and should I change settings in the menu?
