I also had the 18-135 WR on the camera, so it should have been WR all around... DIdn't change the lense outside either.
I've shot in heavy rain with that combination and have never had a problem. So, I do wonder if there's some other issue perhaps?

FWIW, dry-cabinet's (or small dry-boxes with electric de-humidifiers) are a good investment, if you find yourself regularly shooting in damp environments, have to store your gear in humid places - or have to dry out some problem gear ...

I'd say put a lens on, or at the very least the body cap if doing this!
Better still, take off the lens and drape tightly over the open mount a panty hose (nylon stocking or similar). Put the cam opening facing down in a small box and fill up the box with rice. Better than rice would be Desiccant. For this purpose I keep collecting over the years the small Desiccant satchels which are often supplied with certain food such as rice crackers. (Keep them unsaturated by microwaving them very briefly from time to time, often only needs a few seconds in the microwave)

Have you made sure the lens has not moved from the "A" setting ". Can happen unnoticed when changing lenses.

Cheers

The camera is in a rice box. How long should I wait before trying it again?

I'd stick the rice box on top of the fridge (where it's always nice and warm) and wait at least 3 days to a week.

Have you removed the SD-card/cards and then turned it on?

My k5 got damaged this way this winter. Went to Cuba with the camera in bagages. The k5 was really cold when I got it back. Opened and changed lens and the hot wet air of Cuba got in. Got some random troubles. In the end metering wouldn't work anymore. It's in the repair shop right now.
Hope it goes better for you.

No harm continuing to do the good things described above even if it has not yet started. It might just need more time.

If you have various alternates for the interchangeable bits: lenses, SD cards, battery, change them all one at a time to see if the difficulty is with one of those things, or how it is inserted.

Do you have face to face access to an old style camera shop which can do repairs. If so, take it to them and they may be able to give more advice.

850$ to fix a k5
I guess I'll keep my live view/manual k-5.

Took out the camera of the rice box today. No change... :'(

I will have to take it to a repair shop but I'm worried that here in Sweden it'll be outrageously expensive. I have a back up K5 back in Canada and now I'm wondering if I should use that one and put money aside for a K1. Sad day indeed.
