I have a K-3 and a K3-II but the above mention lens won't mount to K3-II but will to the K3, what gives?

My guess is that the lens' mount is for a Canon, Nikon or Sony.

??? The OP said the lens mounts to a K-3. Those mounts would fail equally on a K-3 or K-3-II.

My guess is the OP's K-3-II has some minor mount defect that only affects some lenses.

Update - sigma 50 mm 1.8 lens will not attach to the K3-II as well.

Called Pentax support both K3 & K3-II have the same mounts so it should work.

Sorry to hear this I'm afraid it sounds that way - particularly since you are getting the problem with more than one lens; that pretty much rules out a manufacturing defect on the 50-500.

I have both the K-3 and K-3II, and all of my recent Pentax, Sigma, Tamron and older K-mount lenses fit on both, with exactly the same "feel" when mounting them.

When you say those lenses won't mount on the K-3II, can you describe in a bit more detail? Will they slot into the mount, but just not lock into place, or is it something else?

Sounds like you have a problem with your K3ll lens mount. I have no problems with my K3ll and my Sigma 50-500mm1:4-6.3 APO DG lens. It works great.

I'd be sending your K3ll in for check up of the lens mount, ASAP.

Such a lens - Sigma 50mm f1.8 - doesn't exist. You must mean the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG

Extra detail will certainly be useful.

Specifically, is the lens being physically blocked from mounting properly on the K-3 II, by something like (for example) the pentaprism overhang touching the rear of the lens?

Physically, the lens mount side of the K-3II appears identical to the K-3, so lenses that fit OK on K-3 should mount OK on K-3II.

Or does the problem lens mount properly and lock into place, but then not work? If that's the case, it's either another physical problem with lens or body, or something else.

Update - took the K3 II to Henry's here in Canada - Salesperson check my camera with a K3 II store and my lenses attached to theirs , so they are sending my to be "repaired"

I hope Pentax just exchanges it for a new camera

Don't get your hopes too high, properly no reason to change the whole camera if only the lens mount isn't within tolerances. Also, a new camera might come with its own bag of problem. Was your camera otherwise working properly?

I think the important thing here is that a fully working camera will be forthcoming... and in the very, very unlikely event that it has any problems at all, it's still under warranty. But, repair or replacement, @murviper will get a properly sorted camera
