Magenta Tinge & White Balance

Noticed some undesirable magenta tinge in my DNG files (with Capture 1) using auto white balance.

Went back in and re-did the white balance with the color picker clicked on white item- success!

Are you sure you were using AWB? But yes, AWB can sometimes make a wrong guess .I prefer to select a fixed WB like Daylight or Shade or Tungsten, depending on what is appropriate. I only use AWB when things are changing quickly.
That is a great advantage of dng, though - you can easily correct WB without any loss in quality. Good stuff

DNG, PEF, and raw formats in general. The raw image data have no white balance. A value is provided (in metadata) as a hint to tools such as Capture 1, but whether that is used depends on the tool.

Redid on a desktop with Capture 1 installed- seems my laptop has a problem, and I will use desktop to process all Pentax K3ii DNG's from now.

BTW- the colors (when processed correctly) are even better than my Sony NEX7 w/ 24mp sensor.

I had a lot of problem with colour tinge for a long period of time, I only realised after one experiment with fine process with skin tone that the colour of my LCD monitor was way off, ordered a screen calibration kit, ran it once, all problems solved...
