They are both so good, you can't go too wrong with either.

K3's still gonna some specs above k70. like focus points 27 vs 11. bigger LCD 3.2 vs 3
and the battery grip, if you wanna look "pro"
k70 seems like a great choice, but in the $700 area, I would go for the K3ii.
now you can find like new K3 for less then $600
if you want some video specs then go for the K70.
The biggest shortcoming of K-70 is the outdated OVF focusing with only 9+2 focusing points.
They were already outdated when the K-S2 was released, & including the same in K-70 was a mistake.
they should have at least included 19 AF points.

If you need a flash go with the k-70 otherwise the k3ii is still the better camera
For me, the main differentiators are the articulating screen and in built wifi in the K-70, it's also good to have the flash but having GPS and compass is much better since flash look better from sideways than upfront.

They probably did this to help differentiate their lower model from the APS-C flagship. This tells me the K-3 II replacement will probably have 27 focus points again since they wouldn't want to cannibalize sales on the K-3 III (or whatever it will be called). It might have 33 like the new K-1, but I think they'll try to keep a clear numerical distinctions between their entry APS-C, flagship APS-C, and FF monster to help sell the more expensive bodies. They probably lost a few K-5 sales back in the day because the K-5 and K-30 were both 16mp WR APS-C bodies with 11 AF points and most consumers don't know the difference between 12bit and 14bit or understand the other differences enough to care.

i missed the feel of my old k10d and picked up a 2nd hand k3 with grip yesterday in perfect condition and so far it seems awesome the feel is very similar to my k10d. missed not having a grip ever since getting my k50, which i still think is also a fantastic camera. i wanted something a bit more durable in a cropped body. k1 on order too.

Button in the back for AF in the K-3II
I presume the K70 has a AF/AE-L button on the back just like the K-S2 does that can be reassigned for back-button focusing.

I have a K-3, which I love. I bought a K-S2 when it came out, more for the novelty of it and the flip screen for macro than anything else. However, I've come to love it, and I carry it around as a readily available walk-around camera. The screen is very useful, and there are enough features and IQ is easily good enough to keep me interested. I may even buy a K-70 for an upgrade with a similar concept. Apparently, the K-70 has the one feature that I miss the most in the K-S2: a corded shutter release jack.

The K-3 II has a faster processor and more advanced autofocus (SAFOX XI vs. X). In another thread on this same topic, Adam pointed out that it also has better auto white balance.

I've never really had any issues with the auto focus in my k50, though only ever use the central point. never use auto white balance. the only thing that was starting to annoy me about the k50 was a bit too much time to preview the image after shooting. the k70 looks like a nice looking camera... I'm tempted too as an everyday camera.
