DNG Thumbnail Display In Windows

Is there a difference in DNG fIles. The thumbnails display on the DNG files from my K30 but not from my K3 II in Windows 10 file Explorer. What am I missing????

Have you downloaded the latest codec?

Technically there isn't much of a difference, but windows probably looks at the camera model.

No I haven't. I can't understand though why the DNG files from the K30 show thumbnails but those from the K3 II don't unless there is a difference in the files. If one works shouldn't the other?????

Maybe the number of megapixels is the cause (pixels height and width).

Sometimes, codecs look at the metadata and look for the camera model. The codec you have might say something about a Pentax K-30 but nothing about a Pentax K-3ii, so it "thinks" it can't support it, even if there is no actual difference.

In reality, I suspect this is an issue more often than people realize. I suspect a lot of issues with camera support happen mostly because of newer camera bodies not being in a table of supported cameras, and support is as simple as the name of the camera. I suspect there are few differences between Pentax DNG files.

However, the K3ii has certain nuances about the DNG file (possibility of an HDR or Pixel-Shifted raw file) that a codec may struggle with.
