A question about Interval Movie.

I have done some experimenting with the Interval Movie mode and find it interesting but limited compared to regular Timelapse. What I don't like is that the camera generates an .AVI file without giving us a choice for the parameters. I don't even know what the resulting frame rate is. Question, is there a way to access the parameters of the file or will I have to use LRTimelapse if I want better results? Also, even when using the frame every 3 seconds option, I find that the resulting movie is jumpy.

Taking the shots using regular timelapse mode and combining them yourself with of course give you more control- and the option to skip certain frames. That's what I'd recommend.

I also tried this function on the K1 and found the movies ended up being about twice as long as the proper framerate called for. I really don't know why Pentax would do this. There is an easy work around however. After I imported them to Premiere I just doubled the speed of them which smoothed them out quite nicely.

Yes you will get better results just taking a regular series of shots but Pentax doesnt have a small RAW file option like Canon does so unless you have enormous cards and are happy to process huge amounts of data you kind of have to shoot jpg files so you may as well just use the 4K timelapse movie function then adjust the playback speed to suit.

At least using the movie function you can immediately check your results in the field and try again if you are not happy with it.

Btw you should use the 1 second delay for best results. There is a menu setting for making the interval time measure after the last exposure is complete rather than a set interval. I you use a set interval I think you are unable to drop the interval down to one second from memory.

Thanks guys. I think I'll stick with taking RAW pictures and processing them in Lightroom and LRTimelapse. This gives predictable results.
