Cannot use multi-segment in AE metering mode

Hallo,
I noticed that at the AE metering mode I cannot choose the multi-segment mode, I can just choose the center-weighted and the spot.
Is there something I should activate first or is is a defect?
Thanks a lot
Vas

With what lens? With manual (non-A lenses, or an A lens off the A position) you don't get matrix metering, only center or spot. Any modern AF lens matrix should be available...

I got it. I was trying to choose the multi-segment without any lens attached to the body! Thanks von Baloney and sorry for the confusion!
