Anyone planning to grow old with their K3?

I recently bought a used K3 with grip off Craigslist with only 755 clicks on it... Needless to say, coming from midrange quality, I love it!

My budget won't support a transition to full frame and I find myself satisfied with the thought of growing old with this K3...

... anyone else planning to stick with yours?

I've had mine since 2014. I love it and will wear it out I hope before I'm gone. I'm already old. 71 years old.

Probably so!

I really enjoy mine and it still offers so much more than I have taken advantage of. Been a Pentax owner for quiet a long time. I still have a functioning and very good ME Super with battery grip and dedicated Vivitar flash, all in good working order. The K1 is really nice but I honestly don't Need it. So I will probably stay with this. Now if they replace with another non full frame model I might be tempted as I wouldn't have to buy new glass.

I bought my K-3 in 2014. I still use it every day and I'm 49 now.

Yes, definitely. I will look seriously at the new K-3 II replacement when it arrives, but I will keep my K-3 as well.

I fear I will wear mine out and not be able to afford a replacement. Best to find a way to make this hobby pay for itself.

K-3? I'll likely still be shooting my K-01 and K-5 II when the mushroom clouds begin to sprout...

I love my K3 and I think it will last longer than the five years I had my K200D before upgrading, but at 38, I can't see myself growing old with it.

If your K3 breaks, you might then be able to find a cheap K3 or K1 on ebay. After more than 5 years, digital camera are rather cheap for what they can do. If I remember correctly, there was an article on DPR explain how someone could build a good kit for $80.

I change bodies only when they break. My K-3 will be around for a very long time. I am a 1940 model, myself.

yes I'll be using mine and my K-5 for many years to come. That won't stop me obtaining a K-5IIs or the K-3II replacement

My K-3 II does more than I need it to, so I have no need to upgrade. I don't know if digital cameras can grow old with people the same way film cameras could. If I can get 10 years out of it, that'd be pretty good.

sorry - you should be posting on the youth section of these forums ;D

Sadly DSLRs don't have the same longevity as SLRs - not just the the sensor tech getting unacceptably out of date, but the complex electronics beginning t fail quicker than mechanical components - however, I see no need to upgrade until the AF for macro becomes substantially quicker and more certain, as that's my main use - then the question will be about affordability of the sometime-in-the-future upgrade. I do speak as someone who uses as K-1 as my main camera, however, which relegates the K-3 to more specialised uses.
