Well.. they are working on K3 successor since 2013, while K3II looked like some stop-gap emergency release against D7200..

In fact they still have nothing but claims, which is horrible strategy. Apparently they are waiting until more pentaxians leave...

That K10D/K20D/K7/K5/K3 advanced APS-C camera line is more important for Pentax than KP+K1+645 combined. But it seems, that they have to touch the absolute sales bottom to recognize what old Pentax Inc. and even Hoya knew very well (and what Fuji knows also).

Hope they will manage to bring it sooner than 2019. It already is 2+ years too late.

Frustrating this wait yes? I know.. but I am happy at least they are directly now saying something is on the way.. even if it happens to be released in 2019. That is a lot better, to me, than the previous 'we are investigating' vagueness..

Sony’s new BSI chip can’t be far away, since they are releasing the 150mp MF version with the same pixel pitch as 24mp APS-c this year.

Much better to future proof the replacement, espicially since the new chip will have better read out speeds/video capability ect.

Speaking of new stuff DFA*50 Impressions Adam???

I suspect we all know/knew a successor to the K-3 is inevitable. Nice to have a confirmation and a shadowy date of expectation.
Fits my schedule just fine; my K-3 is three years old and two years now it will be five, which is about my usual turnaround for a body.

Seems surprising that the K3 ii successor wouldn't be released with the DA* 11-18mm.

That sounds like a rewriting of history to me. I suspect the reason the K-3 successor is late is because they got a late start on it.

If only they had put the ISO and SR improvements from the KP into a K-3 body, I would have bought one. I'm ready to upgrade my K-7, and those features are important to me, but I'm not going to downgrade the body to get them. I'm not sure I have the patience to wait any longer.

It depends. Some customers want to have top notch gear. Some customers have the priority of spending no money, they prefer to have less performing gear and use their old lenses until they fall apart. There will always be a Pentax user base until the end.

No, they said they were continuing to support the "Q", which I translated as "We will continue to sell as long as you continue to purchase" - in other words, not much of a promise. Here, they are promising to extend which is a much stronger commitment.

I guess RI is going for longer refresh cycles if they keep running so many formats with fewer resources.

Excellent !!

That should likely become something like a mix of KP/K-1/K3 ...
Looking forward to this !
