(big snip!)
I hope that answers your question.
Don't worry, it was worth the wait! What an amazing story! I would love to be able to go to one of those expos, maybe the one in London one of these years... I can see why you felt the K3II so much closer to you than the older K3 model. The decision of which camera was for you was already taken back then. That's really fantastic!
I got to "try" my K3 before purchasing it, by a huge chance I was in the town where it was being sold, and had 1 hour to check it out, so I walked all over the town (just 20 minutes, but it was hot!) and managed to play with it a bit. I was very nervous, because I love the ergonomics of the Canon EOS 1300D, such a simple, lightweight, amazing little camera! And I had a K50 in my hands a couple of years back, and I recall thinking it was a bit too angular, too "squarish"... But after a lot of reading and thinking, I knew I wanted a Pentax, not a better Canon body! So I wanted to love it, I wanted the camera to tell me: "I'm here, buddy! Let's go taking pictures already!". But I always try to be cold when buying, so I didn't yield. It was really a tough moment... Yes, first world problems, I know... The thing is I didn't buy it right away, I risked losing it for 3 more days. "If it's there, then it was meant for me; otherwise, it wasn't, such it's fate". LOL. But , well, it was (I actually bought it from my mobile phone, LOL). And despite the size, weight and everything, it feels amazing on my hands (I have somewhat smallish hands) and I love it!
So I think I can understand when you say it's a matter of feeling right for you.
Thank you very much for a very interesting story! As a form of art, the tools of the trade are so much more than specs and numbers, aren't they?
Cheers!
