The K-3 line will continue!

We've completed our CP+ interview, but it may be another day or two before the video is ready for uploading. One of the things we asked was whether the K-1 line would essentially be the only K-mount flagship, or if they planned to have a model between the K-1 and KP. They reiterated that they are working on a K-3 successor, so the KP isn't and was never meant to be the top APS-C model. However, it seems that the K-3 successor won't be able to come out as early as they had wanted.

Given Ricoh's limited resources I would not expect it until 2019.

Excellent news. There's years of use left in my K-3 and K-3II (I hope!!), but it's nice to know that something's in the pipeline to replace one or both of them when the time comes. Well done Ricoh, and thanks Adam for letting us know

It is reassuring to hear that there will be a successor to the K-3 II.
It is something I have been really waiting for, and I guess better late than never!

Cheers,
Terry

This is really good news! I sincerely hope my K-3 survives until appearance of the next generation top APS-C model.
Thanks for keeping us updated.

A similar statement was made about Q....and NOTHING,no funeral,no wake...just a presumed missing in action.

Sigh of relief. A major reason I recently bought a K-70 instead of the KP was that I thought I'd hold back some funds now and spend it on the K-3ii's successor when it came out. With the sale price B&H had on the K-70 at the time it was almost half the cost of the KP. Thanks for the update Adam.

No reason why it shouldn't.

Pentax makes very good cameras. I still have a working *istDL, K10D and K5IIs.

But I'm saving for a K-1. So I won't be buying a K3, or its successor.

Good to know. But sad to know it will take longer than we all wanted.
