Go with the DA15 Limited. Worth every single penny. Put that on the K3 II and shoot!

Do they have to be fast primes?

And what brand is best while being cheap?
Yes, the Samyangs are cheap (because they are manual focus). But the good thing is that AF is basically useless for astro anyway.

I would get one of these, such as the 16mm or 14mm for instance:

Hello ppl, I wanted to know what some recommended lenses are for landscape, astro & time lapses are.

I've been recommended the Pentax DA 12mm - 24mm lens, DA 15mm and the DA 21mm for astro.

If there are any lenses you think are better let me know.

Thanks guys
I'm quite happy with my Rokinon (Samyang( 14 2.8. Nice sharp lens, not much money. AF is not an issue because you can just set it at a hyperlocal setting and shoot. You don't need no stinking AF with this lens.

I did buy it for my K-1 but no reason it can't do both.

The DA 14mm is a superbly flexible lens. Close-up, landscape, astro, star stream, or time lapse. I would combine it with the 16-85 to get good overall coverage.

Those lenses are usable but less than ideal for astro. Pentax, like many lens manufacturers, didn't emphasize coma correction in those lenses. Coma is a type of distortion that extends stars near the corner of the frame. Coma is generally only noticeable with wide star photos so it's not a priority for most lens designs.

Samyang/Rokinon/Bower (multiple brand names for the same thing) lenses are great choice for astrophotography. Their designs tend to be sharp, fast, and feature low coma. My Rokinon 14mm f2.8 has worked well (*). There's also a faster only slightly less wide 16mm f2.0. That latter lens is sized for APS-C sensors, fine for a K-3, but less usable if you ever get a full frame K-1.

(*) I am selling my Rokinon 14 because it hasn't seen much use after I bought a 15-30. Pentax DA* 16-50; Tamron 10-24; Rokinon 14mm - PentaxForums.com

As you are not buying just yet, you could wait for the new DA*11-18mm, that will cover all bases nicely I would think. It may be a bit slow at f2.8, but high ISO performance of newr bodies should make up for that.
