The distracting rear LCD.

I remember hearing people complain about how distracting the LCD can be when it is dark, and you put the camera on a tripod (not sure if being on the tripod is relevant), and while you are looking through the viewfinder the LCD is so bright that it is distracting. What do most of you (who have experienced this issue) do in that case to mute the impact of the LCD?

Thanks

I turn mine off. I also turn down the brightness so that if I need it on briefly it isn't as annoying.

With the K3, I turn off the back screen and use the top screen.

With the K50, I turn off the back screen and look thru the view finder.

It depends on the situation. I usually leave mine on because it automatically blanks after a few seconds which allows me to check the picture I just took. If I need to change shutter speed or aperture (etc.), it comes back on to allow me to see what I'm doing and then blanks again.

If I'm using a tripod, basically the same thing except that I often use the magnification feature for critical focusing on a tripod. In that case or if I'm using live view (also frequent on a tripod), it stays on.

Bottom line is that I use it differently on a case by case basis so there is no one answer that applies. Also, my use is a personal preference so it will differ from other users. Kind of a discover your own preference type of thing.

It depends on the situation for me, usually I'll leave mine off, unless I'm fiddling with the settings. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I find that keeping the LCD off does give a little bit more battery life. end of the day, its all preference.

With my K-30, the LCD doesn't bother me so I just leave it as it is.

Half press of the shutter button turns it off too, albeit only while you hold it.

I turned mine off as well....I remember, how distracting the shinning lcd was, when for at some point there was a firmware-bug and the lcd couldn't be turned off....

Not a problem I have encountered, but I would either turn down the brightness or else turn it off.
