My K3 blocks since the 1.40 version had been installed

Hi. ......Sorry for my english, I'm french.......
When the 1.40 firmware is installed sometimes the camera (Pentax K3 + Sigma 17-70mm New edition) blocks when I take a picture).
I can't stop the camera and I must to taking off the battery to restart.
I installed the 1.30 firmware and now my K3 works normally after one hundred pictures at least.
Does anyone else had this problem with his K3?

Gerard

Did you buy the new lens DFA* 50 1.4??
If so try to reinstall the 1.40 firmware and good luck, if not the 1.30 is the best release for your k3

No I did'nt buy this lens and I'll don't buy because I've already since 5 years a Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM

I agree that the 1.3 is a good release.

How about your camera's battery? My K-3, just like my previous K-3 did too, gets sometimes stuck with cheap batteries. This has not happened with original Pentax battery since the first or the second fw version.

The last release announced on Sigma-global site is the good one for my Pentax.

Firmware V1.40 is also needed for the 55-300 PLM zoom since it is KAF4 lens. I have V1.40 installed and there are no problems. Perhaps the OP did not let the update fully install.

If it's the case the release firmware will stay in 1.30.

Which is fine until you acquire a lens that needs v1.40 or higher, which could be a Sigma lens.

Sigma is known for their odd firmware incompatibilities especially on Pentax. That's why they have the USB dock to update the firmware instead of you having to send the lens in.. It's long been rumored that Sigma reverse engineered the communications protocol on Pentax lenses which leads to the incompatibilities.
