Canon replaced my first ever P&S digital camera long after the warranty expired due to a known problem with connections to the sensor. They even replaced it with a newer model.

Always worth a try contacting Pentax to see what they can do, even if it's a reduction in the repair price as it's a known fault.

You are very welcome! I hope Ricoh (or at least their distributor) is able to make this good for you. The original "fix" was replacement, usually from dealer stock. Since the K-3II reached end-of-life almost a year ago, that might be difficult. Good luck!
