Re: K3ii Battery Grip AA Battery

I have an AA Battery adapter for my K3ii Battery grip.
I've tried to use Energizer AA Lithium.

It worked previously.
But now has either blank or Red showing.

Can you please advise.

I expect that I've got the wrong type of Battery.

Regards Ali.

First, I'd double check that the batteries are inserted into the holder the correct way around, Double check the connection between camera and grip, that it is fitted correctly, and the contacts (pins) are clean, and or not bent or anything.

Wrong battery you got there! AA batteries to be used are the 1.5V alkaline type. Lithium batteries are 3V and come in another package.

In the US you can get 1.5v AA lithium batteries. AAA too. I use them in my weather station as they still work well when it is cold out. As stated above, check batteries are installed right and check the contacts on the battery grip and clean the contacts on both the grip and the camera.

It is also possible to install the grip incorrectly if you are not careful. I learned this from personal experience. A removal and reinstall may do the trick.

Didn't know about AA lithium 1.5 V batteries. Sorry. For me it's Alkaline 1.5V. Lithium... no thanks. RuiC

quote:
"Although the higher OCV of the LiFeS2 system is 1.8 volts, the nominal or rated voltage is 1.5 volts which makes it a suitable replacement for alkaline and nickel systems. The battery voltage will drop when it is placed under load. For this reason, the higher OCV will typically not damage electronic components, but device designers should take into consideration that the OCV of fresh batteries can range from 1.79 to 1.83V."

Their ability to provide needed voltage in bitter cold weather is what makes them useful. I use them in my home weather station. Alkaline batteries simply do not work well in winter around here.
