My K-3 (purchased spring 2014) is still going strong and I remain a very happy camper, though I might pick up a K-3II at some point as a second body. Much depends on the feature set of the K-new.

Summing up:

Yes, maybe someone may not care about pixel shift, but who makes stillife makes the difference and above all the advantage introduced in both K3,
the double slot card, if accidentally one of the two stops working you can always use the other, this even in the case of a defective card.

The K3 has the built-in flash the K3II does not, those who use external flashes will not regret either, finally the built-in GPS is a valuable help for those
who love to take astronomical photos at a level certainly not professional and also to tag the images taken, you take home some great shots.

When you will discover the specifications and the real field test of the new "Pentax" I think it is better to wait.

Comparometer K3 vs. K3II vs. K1

Hah hah, I hope they have the flavour of the smaller wild blueberries, I own't even eat commercially grown ones.

Still one of the best cameras ever released and still my favorite despite having used multiple other cameras from multiple brands. There is something magical about Pentax....

as I said, my K 3 and battery grip was purchased new in August 2016 and since we were planning on a trip where I wanted a back up camera and I found a new K 3 II with a free battery grip on sale, I bought that as well the next year

both are still working well

just better autofocus, buffer and a few more fps to keep pace with other cameras

Haven't had a K3ii, but my K5iis and K20D still rock.
Why? The new lenses are much faster and quieter just yesterday I tested the front-back focus the Pentax HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 which has no autofocus screw drive,
is silent and fast focusing and so are the other lenses in the series, now it's a razor, and I was hesitant whether to buy it because it's not particularly luminous, do you agree?

The K3 & K3II have 8.3 fps/s are not enough? Do we want a mirrorless camera?

Let's wait for the real improvements and then we'll see who will be interested.

I still read K20, K5 etc, they are reflex cameras at least ten years ago.

My K20D is from 2008 and still takes good pictures but technologically it has been outdated in most aspects.

With the K3 you can also create time lapse, in Super HD 4K 3840x2160
in compressed Jpeg motion.
Ciao Mario
I just purchased a K3 II from another member here, so have been reading through the manual pdf while waiting for it to arrive. Looks like it can do 4K time lapse as well.

It'll be my intro into the land of Pentax after a lengthy amount of research and personal debate, and I'm eager to try it out. It'll be quite the step up from my current Olympus E-500 that is so far behind in technology that my phone takes better photos in most cases. Lol

K3 has been my go to for travel, concerts, weddings, and landscapes. Total jack of all trades and I may need to upgrade or get a new one. Mine has been used hard in very demanding situations and environments.

It is an excellent documentation of what can be achieved with a good reflex camera and who uses it,

very good well documented work.

Ciao Mario - Prego, I still love this camera. It competes very well with more modern full-frame cameras of other makes. I'd love a new camera some day however.

Still love my K-3, by far my favorite camera I have owned. It is showing more silver around the corners than I like to admit due to my rough habits and excursions (and children).. just keeps going like a battle tank and making great pictures. As long as it holds up I'll likely wait a couple years for the Knew to drop in price before upgrading. If you ever want to see how impressive the K-3 can be, browse the work of Fiedrich Beren. Fantastic landscape work\ mostly with the K-3 + 14mm f2.8.

A long series (check sig...) of happy Pentax ownership before I ended up via a massive loop encompassing many Nikons including the D750 and D500, back to a K5.

Last year, I traded my K5 for a KP, and regretted it. The KP can make fine photos but I just didn't get on with the ergonomics. I owned all the grips. The wheels somehow annoyed me too. I realised the K5 (and the K7 I owned before it) fit me better.

Rather than buy another K5, I tried and bought the K-S1. It is very good! I actually prefer its ergonomics and grip to the KP. It works with my Astrotracer too. But eventually, the lightweight build proved a little too lightweight, and I cracked the case.

So that went, and I replaced it with a lovely K3 "Premium Edition" in silver. Found one, boxed including the matching grip and special strap, with ~1800 clicks for under $400. Familiar ergonomics and build quality, excellent images. I have a fast card in Slot 1 for RAWs and a Toshiba wi-fi card in Slot 2 for lower resolution JPEGs. These can be sent to my phone easily for quick checks or sharing.

I really love it.
