How much will the K-3 III cost?

Let's have some fun guessing how much the K-3 III will cost!

The announcement video stated an estimated price (translated to about $1900 USD), but most comments thereafter state that this is an inflated price commonly practiced in Japan..

Let's see what we all think!

Towards 200,000 JY

Translation? More than a dozen or so members here are willing to pay for APS-C (would prefer FF Sony for $200 less, on sale, and forget current pricing of several year old D500).

Sony does weird pricing with their bodies. I thought it was relatively well known that Sony under prices their bodies to hook in new comers who are just price comparing bodies with other brands.
But look at the E-Mount lenses and how much they cost! Even if I sold all my K-Mount gear for what I originally paid to acquire E-Mount instead, I wouldn't have half the kit I have now.

I chose $1600.00 meaning from $1600.00 - $1699.99.

I'm being optimistic for those who will want to buy this and think $1500.

I just didn't see anything on the spec sheet to justify a higher price, unless Ricoh is going to go the way of Leica and Hasselblad and charge a premium for the name.

Perhaps I should have started the list at around $1000 USD for all those optimistic hopefuls

Although I think it will be around a 1700$ which I think it is too much for this camera. At launch it should not be over 1200$. The only interesting thing of this camera is the viewfinder upgrade. It will come in handy with manual focusing I think/hope. As the viewfinder is now it is a bit limiting with manual focus. I guess I stick with the K-3II as long as the results are pleasing me.
In the video the translation I heard/read "around upper 200.000 Yen". It seems to me that is a contradiction. Usually you talk about around a certain amount, which means it could just under or above it. When you speak about the "upper" it will be high but you can not give the exact amount, but below (in this case under 300.000 Yen) which seems an awful lot of money for a "recreational camera" as the Ricoh director puts it.

To me cost is not an issue. I am spending my kids inheritance.

I thought I heard in the video that the cost would be in the "high 200,000 Y" which could go to $2,800. That would put it on par with the list price of a Sony A7rIII or Nikon Z7ii

I'm a bit confused on the numbers listed in the poll or maybe my currency conversion app is wrong. In the video it said upper 200,000 yen. I plugged in 275,000 yen which is 'upper' but still not all the way the 'up'. That gives $2,600. 300,000 yen is $2,875.

Maybe the intent in the video is misunderstood, (it was a translation after all) but when I see ads saying "homes in the upper $300,000" That means $399,999 before tax. Same with cars.

I would be delighted if this came in at $1,600 but that is not what I took away from the video.

I am guessing they will try to keep it in the 1500-1599 range. If not I think the lack of a strong economy in the marketplace would be a real killer on sales.

If higher than they are leaning that the new technology and improvements will allow buyers to justify the price.

Considering I paid a total of $1678.60 for my K1-MII body only the added value to the K3 III would have to be really big for me to purchase. At that level a great lens for the K1-MII would the buy of the day.

I do not understand the logic of comparing the (I assume) used price you paid with the 'official release' price. I paid full price for my K-1 on pre-order and then paid the cost to upgrade to a mkII. So I have about $2,300 invested in mine. Which price is correct? It could be said you are a much better shopper than I am but I do not think comparing your cost to mine has any relevance to the release price.

Many people are 'guessing' they will keep it in the 1,500 - 1,600 range. There is a lot of reasonable logic in that thought. But that is not what Ricoh is saying. I hope for under $1,800 but I think people should not be shocked when it comes out at $2,600. Unless I misunderstand what "upper 200,000 yen" means.

I have about $2000 (CAD) ready for pre-order. And I was hoping to get a battery grip outta that too.
It's it's much more than that, I will have to forgo the pre-order and save for a couple more months.
I really hope that it's not priced as high as some believe it may :P
But I also think that hoping for a $1500 camera is a bit low.

Agree. And personally I would vote for $1,600 or perhaps a bit more as a logical sweet spot. But Pentax rarely is logical. And the video seemed quite specific. Unless "upper 200,000 yen" means something different before the translation.
My K-3II is in good shape but I would consider moving to K3M3 at $1,500 or so but not at $2,500. I've mostly moved to FF so K3II is mostly a backup body for me.

I've only heard that this inflated initial price is common for Japanese companies and that the equipment commonly sells (even in Japan) for less than the initial stated MSRP.
But who knows until it's fully released!
