It could be said you are a much better shopper than I am but I do not think comparing your cost to mine has any relevance to the release price.
The price was for a brand new K1-MII purchased in 2019 march to be exact. On top of that at the same time I purchased the Pentax SMC D-FA 100mm Lens, Macro F / 2.8 WR, Black and the Pentax 38607 Battery Socket D-BG6. The total package came to $2452.13. All brand new, mint in box. I live in Rome italy, the actual cost was €2080.72 but I used a cc based in the US in dollars and the exchange rate was at the time like $1.1785 dollars to the euro.
Was I a better shopper, I doubt it compared to most of my purchases. It was nothing more than being in the right place at the right time.
