Neat. Seems a very strange place for a bug to have the glowing parts. I admit.

We've had what seem to be a respectable number of ordinary fireflies for down here this season. Not much by Northwoods standards, but more than last year. Cheerful sight, nonetheless.

I grew up outside Plant City, not far from the Alafai River and I don't recall seeing a bug like that. Plenty of lightning bugs, but not one of those.

I think The Dept of Transportation should be alerted. There are no tail lights or turn signals on that thing. Certainly a few mil can be allocated for a study and new regulations adopted.

I'm a Fl. native too-from St. Augustine. Never saw anything like that the entire time I lived there. Odd looking, but cool.

I got so curious the third time I saw this firefly in my third apartment in South America, here in Paraguay there are much of it everywhere, it doesn't survive for long once you try to incubate it just like the old fireflies we used to know...

I've seen plenty of click beetles, but never a glowing one. I think many have markings in that spot though (that don't glow)...

I saw a bioluminescent click beetle once on a behavioral ecology field trip. Didn't get a picture though, so here's a picture of a solifugid

That is strange! Never seen one of those here in Texas, where we have all kinds of unusual bugs...by the billions!

I guess one of the strangest I have seen is this colorful bug...I've only seen one and I still have no idea what he is? Anyone know?

Regards!

By golly fralexandr I think you are 100% correct! I had looked everywhere to try and identify without success! Makes perfect sense too, I see the adults around here all the time. Thanks!

Regards!
