As many others here, I'm sure, I believe the first camera I ever shot was this Kodak:

I later owned some compact 35mm Yashica too, but I don't have idea of the model.

My first digital was a Samsung Digimax S500:

I still keep it today. Surprisingly for a P&S, it has a manual mode for setting aperture, exposure and ISO. Very fun camera, took some cool pics with it:

My first SLR was the Canon Pellix QL with 58mm F1.2 and booster meter in 1966 that I ordered from a Pentax dealer in Hong Kong when I was in Alaska with the Army.

I bought this new in 1980 ( I think ) or 1981 at Fox Photo for $99, later bought a form fitted case for it, and a Popular 25CA flash. The camera and flash are still going strong, but the case has seen better days, it was fake leather, and the thing is peeling like crazy.....But it has been on countless fishing trips with me, and has never failed.

I got a Minolta SRT-100 for Christmas in '72 or '73, man I had fun with that. I took pics for school and put a little darkroom in the basement with a cheap Durst M301 enlarger. I would like to get a scanner to scan some of those old negs (just don't have time) I only looked at 35mm for pork chop stuff after getting a Mamiya 6x6cm TLR in '75 or '76 (what a great camera) and added a k1000 to take on travels.

I have owned many cameras over the years, but I think the first one was a Kodak instamatic, that took 126 cartridges. Remember flash cubes?

I was given an Olympus XA2 by a Canadian friend when we worked in Saudi Arabia in 1984.
then in 1986, I was able to purchase a Nikon FE2 which I paired with the then "legendary" Nikkor 35-70/F3.5. I remember that I paid twice for the lens what the body cost.

All my film equipment were sold in 1995. Came to Pentax with a K100D in August 2008.

Earliest memories were using mom and dad's Kodak Instamatic with the square flash bulbs. Also Polaroid cameras.

First one that was actually mine would have been a 35mm no name, generic point and shoot bought at a local department store.

First SLR: Canon T50.

Yearr, the camera i had, i forgot to mention, looks like the one in my original post, but had no flash. If i wanted to use a flash i had to stick a 5 flash "obelisk" into the top of it.

Held the flash against my leg and used it once, burnt a hole in my pants and gave me a burn on my leg.

A Kodak Brownie in 1958, I think. I remember that It had a built-in flash that I had to put flash-bulbs into, so I think it was one of these:

My first 'grown-up' camera was a Braun Paxette I bought with saved-up birthday money in 1962 when I was 13. This fella (with a different 50mm 2.8 lens):

A Really Super Paxette - Photo.net Classic Manual Cameras Forum

I think he's got the dates wrong. It was a new release when I bought it. I've still got it, but the shutter is stuck.

My first SLR was a Nikkormat FT3 with 50mm 1.4 AI lens in 1977. It still works. Mine's all black. I wish that modern DSLRs had a viewfinder as good as this old camera has.

Minolta Hi-Matic G viewfinder camera, auto exposure, manual focus, with 38mm f/2.8 fixed lens. I had a flash and swivel attachment that was great for defeating redeye. I recorded 14 years of family photos with the Minolta and shot two weddings for siblings. The first one, my sister's wedding didn't go so well (not the camera's fault). I saw my brother's wedding album last week after his twenty-fifth anniversary, and I was very impressed with the photos. I just shot my son's wedding last month with a K20D and K-x, and I don't think the results were any better than the old Minolta and inexperienced me. (I guess this means no growth in 25 years).
