A new type of camera

Hi everyone,

I just thought of an idea and I wonder if it makes sense.

How about an upgradable camera ?

Basically, you would have all of the mechanics in the "fron end" and all of the upgradable ( firmware and sensor ) in the exchangable "back end"

So when an upgrade is available.... ie a XXX megapix sensor with a-z options appears, we just have to buy the back-end ! ! ! ! !

just a thought ! ! !

And also digital backs for some cameras. Lots of people are hoping Pentax would make a modular camera, where some pieces could be exchanged (viewfinder, sensor..), but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.
