I can't see the picture of the bag in the original post so I really don't know what it is, but I can infer without comment. What I use are soft-sided insulated bags made for keeping stuff cold or hot. They just look like they contain my lunch.

I use an olive drab canvas butt pack (with a shoulder strap on it) from the Vietnam War era. It holds a k7 with a sigma 50th 1.4 attached, 18-55kit, Vivitar series 1 105 macro, smca35mm, and the 50-200kit....plus more if I wanted. I am always amazed at how comfortable and compact it is. Went through several camera bags before settling on this set-up. Realizing that I did not need padding and that a bunch of pockets were more of a hindrance than a help. From the stand point of being discreet though, I'm not sure a bag designed for handguns is a good idea as that may be more likely to be stolen than a camera. Love the diaper bag suggestions....probably the most tried and true stealth camera bag.

Just use a reusable grocery bag if you want something stealthy

Or throw your DSLR into your girlfriend's/wife's/mom's handbag and let her carry it

I arrived late to the party. I think the original idea is interesting, not for me though as my K-r is way to big for my concealed camera bag.

Still love my Domke F5's for being discreet.

I thought the idea was fine, if the dimensions fit the camera you have then why not... It was the pointed remark about "gun culture" that deserved a closer look by the mods. Thanks, Jim.

Rothco also makes a similar bag that might work for some of you. It comes in several colors...

I guess if you don't want anyone to steal your bag, just use a diaper bag...

If I carried a bag that looked like a gun case, everyone would know I had something else in there. It wouldn't work.

I have not seen any camera bag which does not scream "hey, I'm a camera bag". So, hand made insert is my way.

I've thought about that. I've got a little Eddie Bauer diaper bag that I use for all sorts of things. All I need is an insert to use it for a camera bag.

I like inserts, too. That way I can use a proper backpack for carrying my stuff. Few camera backpacks are very nice to carry.

Or you can stuff it in any ordinary bag, even a plastic bag if you really want to be stealthy.

And preferably a used diaper bag, if there is such a thing.

The more I think about it I don't know that I need an insert. I've got some neoprene lens pouches and the Case Logic Day Holster for the camera. Hmmm....Might have to empty out the shooting gear and see how it works with the camera.

Without a toddler in tow, to me a diaper bag screams "camera."
