This approach to wedding and pictures I found interesting and fun. A couple on a budget invited all the people they knew with "good cameras" to their wedding. They asked everyone to take pictures and give them the ones they liked. They didn't have high expectations so there was no pressure and I was happy to participate. So collectively they got a bunch of pictures and they didn't have to pay for a photographer.

Been there, done that. They won't look at you as a professional so getting really great photos that a pro would get for a stranger is next to impossible. You wot enjoy the festivities, the cake, the company because you will be too busy snapping photos. Then, how on earth can you charge your friend for the photos. I would agree, give them a credit towards your services or recommend a professional and offer to be an adviser if needed, but don't do it it's not worth the headache before, during or after.

Well, if you're going to do it, have fun! I'll volunteer one piece of advice: Bring a laptop/tablet/something with a bigger screen that can offload your pix. Appoint someone your assistant, and have them offload the photos. Then look at them big, and show them to the happy couple. That way if they want something different you can reshoot immediately. If everyone is happy, you can move on to the next subject. And expectations are managed...

Wow....so much well informed and well meaning comments and thoughts!

I'm pretty fortunate to have a K3 and K5II, so I,ll probally just keep my sigma 70-200 2.8 on the K3 and use some primes on the K5II. I find I can manage switching primes pretty easily, and I have a 21,31, 43 and 77 for that.

I don't do much flash stuff, and only have a sigma 540, but will practice with it a bit to get better at bouncing with no direct flash using slightly higher ISO for that well lit softer look etc.

Anyway, thankyou all...your fabulous!
