hes even got a phd in optics, or at least not yet apparently very few of those were made, so he could have a fake in his hands....

X ray? I've packaged x-ray detectors and they don't use glass, too dense. Usually the lenses are basically bundles of wave guides and the windows are made of low density metal (some obvious choices, but you figure it out). Sometimes the lenses are made of metals, but I have never seen glass used.

We must be talking about two different spectrums, like how infrared photography has nothing to do with thermal imaging.
