Given that the best camera to take photos with is the one you have with you, and taking the meaning of "enthusiast" to be "anyone who enjoys taking photos", then I think it's fairly safe to say that phone cameras will be an enthusiast's camera within a decade. In fact, that's true now.

Having said that, I imagine there'll always be a place for more sophisticated cameras, since the laws of optics are immutable. Nonetheless, the continued development of software that is able to successfully emulate the appearance of dedicated camera systems will put more pressure on the makers of such devices to improve their output.
