Hypothetical Question #2

Hypothetical Question #2

Would you blindly trade your current best lens for the three prototype K-mount lenses announced today by Ricoh, when they become available?

What is the lens you would surrender, the one you consider your best?

Sure. But my best lens isn't very expensive and could be replaced.

Ha ha - you guys always seem to find holes in the terms of the agreement!

So here is an appendix clause: replacing the surrendered lens will require a year of living off nothing but chocolate milk and marshmallows; or the immediate removal of two fingernails with a needlenose pliers.

What lens were you considering?

I'm thinking maybe the needlenose pliers thing is too harsh.

Just make it a year of marshmallows and chocolate milk. And viewing one Beavis and Butthead episode per day.

No. If two of the three weren't telephotos I'd think about it.

Setting the stakes too high, my DA 15 and I are still getting acquainted... the Beavis and Butthead episodes are too much!

Well, as long as you don't replace the surrendered lens, you won't have to face a year of Beavis and Butthead! LOL

Nope.

If the long tele turns out to have a reasonable quality-to-weight ratio I might buy it, but no, no trade.

For that to happen, the lenses would have to be better and lighter, than what I've got. The lighter thing is looking a little questionable. And the "bettter" may be an issue as well.

I would sacrifice two fingernails each for a few existing lenses. I need to know more about these new lenses before I can fit them into the fingernail budget.
