PayPal

Don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this; if not, please move it Moderator.

For those using PayPal, sometimes you see a seller requesting the buyer to use the payment option of "sending money to family and friends" rather than sending money for goods. By using the "family & friends" option, the buyer loses all protection that PayPal offers you, if a dispute arises!! Not to mention, a buyer requesting this. simply to get out of the PayPal fee is being dishonest.

Just wanted to give a heads up for using PayPal; you never know when a dispute might happen, and you need the protection that PayPal offers.

Yup, for this reason sellers here aren't allowed to publicly solicit gift payments. The smartest thing to do, IMO, is to factor in all the fees in your asking price since buyers hate to pay more than what they first see.

Also, when you send money via the "friends & family" option, PayPal won't give the seller your shipping address.
PayPal has an invoice option which makes it all very easy to stay legitimate.

Those who have had recourse to PayPal's guarantees appreciate the security provided by using the correct channels.
It saved me $50+, but I bet others have recovered much more.
