Originally posted by jpzk Interesting read but the numbers don't seem to add up to the CIPA Shipping Report. The Nov 2014 CIPA shows mirrorless to be only roughly 25% of the total interchangeable lens cameras. Yet the Flickr report, if one adds us the numbers of cameras under mirrorless and under DSLRs, the number of mirrorless is about 25% which is more than the roughly 21% DSLRs. (i just rounded and added these in my head :-)) Something's wrong with the FLICKR numbers - not truly representative of the global situation, IMO. DSLRs have been around a long time - i would think their numbers would be way higher than the mirrorless designs - and thats not the case in FLIckr.
I do find it interesting in the Flickr report that the A7 in 2014 is the 2nd most popular owned ILC camera (at 3%), and its percentage is higher than any DSLR listed, Canon, Nikon, whatever. For those that said the A7 was unpopular, they were apparently wrong. Even given distortion in the FLICKR statistics, the A7 has some popularity.
