I have never done it but I know people who do so in or near abandoned buildings. Which seems odd, but they trespass on private property. I would assume that they would be arrested for trespassing if the owner wanted to charge. I have seen pictures locally in these areas. Some are taken over by nature anyway so they are pretty hidden. Also a lot of boudoir type photos. Boudoir and abandoned buildings dont seem to go together to me, but it seems to be a 'thing' here and I know they sneak, so I guess it is a thrill thing on top of it.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Europeans also have a pulse and some warm red blood flowing...
Nah. People may still look, like or dislike it, but it's just... more natural? It's nothing to call the cops for. I do like that people don't have so much issues with nudity, there's nothing wrong with it.

Of course it depends on where in Europe you are. But generally speaking I'd say people are more open minded perhaps?

Only nudes i've ever shot were on the JMT, where the subject didn't really care and everyone you meet is a little weird (and very accepting of nuditiy) anyway

People out in nature generally have a much more refined view of nudity. In urban environments the big issue is gawkers. It's legal to go topless in Ontario, but women don't because some men are pigs. Out in the bush, no one really cares. There are situations, out in nature, where wearing clothes doesn't make any sense. For example, during a hike on a hot day, why would you wear your swim suit in for a dip if you come across a pond or other water you can swim in? If you do wear your swim suit, you have to carry a wet swim suit for the rest of your hike. In situations like that, it isn't the nudists that are weird.

Nobody is shooting nature nudes where I live. Mosquitos would suck the life out of the model before all of the clothes were off.

Its not that we're prude here in the Green Swamp. We're just pragmatic.

As the weather get's warmer, more squirrely girls will go topless....I can PM you a bunch more shots if you would like?

Regards!

My suggestion: find some private property that looks promising and offer the property owner a small fee for the use of his/her extra-large, secured, discreet studio. But don't complain about the lack of electricity or climate control, and try to find property that isn't owned by a relative of the model.

If you lived up here, I can point you at many suitable crown land locations.... finding a model might be a lot more difficult.

Ok.....after laughing a lot at this question Im going to jump in on this one.

First....You need to have the right attitude towards it and I can say by even asking this question you don't yet........ Don't be too intimidated by people around.

Second.....any place you can think of...... Your the photographer...You Decide what You want......No place is off limits for me at all.

Third....any place you decide that has or may have people around ? let them know there is or is going to be nude photography happening and exactly where so they can avoid it or your subject may ask for this also. People out in the wild weeds somewhere DONT like to be surprised with this out of the clear blue.

Fourth.....make sure you arent breaking any specific laws. This is pretty much covered by our freedom of expression in the USA so your ass is covered here.

Fifth......in a congested or busy location plan it carefully and be brisk and get into it and get it done and gone.....clothes don't need to come off until the last second.

Im not big into nudes but I have found that the direct approach works best. I just tell people that Im shooting a nude model and we would like some privacy or let them know what is happening. Never had a single problem and it was a great experience over all. Any Children around is a NO NO for me for a variety of reasons.
Memorable Nude locations at Grand Canyon , Bryce , The Wave , middle of Winslow Arizona , Burning Man , Downtown Phoenix , Holy Trinity Monastery , and Death Valley.....people were present at every location and gave a shit less.
I haven't had a single problem anywhere.....ever...of any kind......Just Do It !
And if your next question is where to find a suitable model ? Just ask whoever you would like to shoot ! You will be surprised how many ladies of whatever age are very willing if you let them be a part of the complete process from beginning to end images......it seems to be liberating for them to do so in certain circumstances. My models ranged in age from 24 to 76.....the later being the most relaxed.

Sounds complicated Sekao......I'm sticking with the squirrels. It's only a two step process.

1) You want some corn and fresh roasted peanuts?
2) Get naked and I'll give them to you!

Shoot away .....they will pose as long as the corn and peanuts hold out!

Regards!

I have to not mislead people; I'm asking strictly from the perspective of a curious "consumer" of photography and not a "producer" (in this context, at least). The only nudes I'm likely to shoot these days would be of my wife, and I would not want to put her in view of the public. There would be choice words for me and big problems otherwise

Having said that, I am curious how others (even pros) go about this kind of photography and encourage the open discussion. Great insight so far!

Wifes are off limits...lol Your on your own there buddy.....lol
I suggest getting REAL secluded somewhere.

Im single and over 50......different rules would apply if I were married. I would want complete privacy for my wife.

All the nudes I have done are very tasteful .... I hate the frank type..."sexuality" ....but love the artistic Monochrome look of a female in lanscape!

You should see what they do for Pistachios !!!
Its really not at all. Being a single man and friendly have given me opportunities of a single male photographer. I have some good friends and make many while travelling around and then never see each other again.
In my minds eye I have photo ideas and simply express them. Honestly....Ive never been turned down , but then what I do is expressive and tasteful.....its not in any way pornographic but is quite sexual .....leaves a lot to the imagination.

Don't know about other places, but near me they like more unusual places. Like old asylums and mills and mental institutions. We have an abandoned psychiatric and tuberculosis hospital which are big, lots of old mills, old military forts. People ask on 'abandoned photography' groups where they can shot nudes.

Exactly! Ugh I just think of bugs, poison ivy, possible tetanus, ticks, LOL. It's bad enough to have a bite on my arm, couldn't imagine it on a normally covered body part.
