I fried a Nikon D50 several years back on a jetty photographing kiteboarders. I always worried about my replacement D50 and then my D300 afterwards. I had a D700 for a while as well and I used to wrap it in a plastic bag with an elastic anytime I was outdoors with even a chance of rain. Switching to Pentax WR lenses and bodies eased my nerves and I've never had a problem since.

I don't know how much weather a non-sealed camera will take, but I guess I wouldn't chance it too much.

This waterfall photo was taken with a pretty decent rain going on.

I've probably done more shooting in snow though.

My profile shot, with the 18-135. A rainy day but sometimes they're just nice days.

Nice shots guys! I forgot to also mention how I enjoy the look I get from people right before they ask me if my camera is ruined!

I've posted this somewhere else;
After a very misty/light rain shoot on my last holiday, I was walking back to my motel when a local commented on the wintry weather, then commented on keeping the camera dry.
My reply; "nah, it's a Pentax"
"Oh."

Iceland waterfall

This was taken in a very wet, passageway opening out to a waterfall in Iceland. I was standing under an overhang, so some of the spray from the waterfall was blocked, but the ceiling was wet and dripping (the hexagon?-shaped patterns at the top of the image are water-drops).

Raining like the dickens and a 40 mph or so wind coming in off the water at the Portland Head Lighthouse. I didn't worry about my K-30, but the widest lens I had with me which had any semblance of weather rating was my DA 35mm f/2.4, which is rated at "AL" and not "WR." And I was a little worried about water seeping in at the mount. My wife held an umbrella which kept peeling back every few seconds in the wind. Camera and lens were pretty much drenched the whole time in a mix of rain and salt spray, but after drying out and cleaning they were good as new. The bigger problem was water spots. In order to get the framing I wanted with the 35mm lens and fewest water spots, I had to blast away a whole bunch of shots, then stitch them together later. Then clean up more water spots in post!

Nice shot, lots of wave action. You need one of these:

Too many to list for me. Here are a few.

This one was in some very hard rain. Others put their cameras away and I kept shooting and the shot was published in a national magazine. I had my Metz 58 AF-2 wrapped in a plastic bag.

A recent one from my porch in hard rain. The porch is covered but spray was blowing in.

Winter before last on a blowing cold powder day. It had snowed a couple of feet the night before. This is my 10 year old son (and wife following).
