DA 15mm and DA 21mm and LEE filter adapters

Hello all,

Recently, I've acquired the DA 21mm and the DA 15mm and am thinking of getting the 49mm LEE adapter to fit those lenses but I can't decide if I should get the "wide angle" version or the standard version will suffice. I am curious to know if anyone has used the the one or the other and could provide some kind of feedback ?

Thanks in advance.

The DA 15 has the unique problem of the built in hood blocking any sort of flared filter ring. I've had no issues with the 21 vignetting with 2 filters stacked / 49mm Cokin P.

It's very tricky with the DA15, you can't stack two 49mm filters on it without vignetting, but it does kind of depend on the depth of what you are fitting. I have fitted a 49mm filter stacked with a 77mm filter (via adapter) so you might be able to do it (so probably a UV filter plus LEE adapter) . If you can try before hand, obviously it would be better.

Hmm..looks like it's going to take some effort to get some decent results. Thanks for the answers.

The hood on the DA15 Limited is not removable. You could get a set of 49mm filters to suit all of your purposes.

I use a Sigma 10-20 with Lee 100mm filters.

I will order a set of 49mm filters but as for the LEE adapter, should I just get the standard 49mm adapter or the "Wide angle" is required ? The "Wide angle" is like $30 more.

With the DA15 Limited, you can use a Lee or Cokin adapter if you put a regular 49mm filter on the lens first. I tested with a Cokin adapter because I don't have a Lee adapter that small. With the 49mm filter and Cokin adapter, there was very slight vignetting. The 49mm filter sticks out slightly from the front of the lens's hood. If you were to use a "slim" 49mm filter with external threads (some become "slim" by omitting the external threads) and the Lee "wide angle" adapter, you may be able to avoid the vignetting entirely.

Ideally, you would remove the glass from the filter and just use its threaded ring as an extension adapter.

Testing with the DA21 Limited and a Cokin adapter, I saw no vignetting at all.

mnj11 , definitely go with the UWA 49mm adaptor. it sits further inwards and won't cause vignetting with Lee Foundation Holder. The standard 49mm will cause vignetting. Note ! they are different.

Thanks for the information. I am going to order the slim 49mm filter and the UWA adapter. Meanwhile, I found this article in LEE filter's website.
